Dr. Dinithi C. Peiris

I am a Professor attached to Department of Zoology at University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, where I have been since 2013. Before joining University of Sri Jayewardenepura, I was attached to University of Colombo where I served as a Senior Lecture from 1999 to 2008. I graduated from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka specializing in Zoology and joined the university staff in 1994. I was awarded Open Commonwealth scholarship to read for the PhD at University of Sheffield, United Kingdom and obtained my PhD in 1999. Since then I completed 2 post-doctoral fellowships; at Queen’s University, Canada and University of British Columbia, Canada.

 

My research interests center on diabetic research, cancer research, and environmental toxicology. Dinithi is the author of peer-reviewed publications, newspaper articles and also authored 6 books. Currently I am serving as a reviewer for six international journals and 3 international conferences. I received university research awards for 4 years and National Research Council award for publications. Also recieved an award for best presentation at CAAG conference in 2006, which was held at Banff, Canada. Currently I am a researcher cum teacher and she adopted innovative teaching methods to transfer knowledge to my students.
